Hi All,
Mum feels much better after being able to have a shower.
For those who asked - No the visiting nurse wasn't a hot man named Sven. :-)
She was an awesome lady named Karen and she had alot of good information for Mum.
Aunt Claire, Aunt Jean, Aunt Joanne are here now visiting.

Postop Day 3
Mum had a good night's sleep. We set up a bed for her in the den so she has her own private room with TV, fireplace, and room service.
She watched "24" last night and now she feels complete. :-)
The visiting nurse is coming today and Mum gets a shower which she's excited about.
I'm going to do her hair. Perhpas we'll try a new look for her. Mohawk, Beehive, Dorothy Hamil.
Jill and Sam were excited to see Nonnie. Nico and Gia are coming up today after school.

Post-op Day 2
Mum might be discharged tonight. The doctors just want to watch her for a few more hours.
They removed the bandages from the right side and apparently it hurt alot and she had a few choice words for them when they did that. Although I'm sure they understood and accepted her apology. :-)
She wasn't happy with the physical therapist either but I'm sure she's used to people not being happy to see her. She gave Ma some arm exercises she has to do twice a day. Ma kinda looks like she's doing the robot dance from the 80's. Jean and I sang Mr Roboto while she did her exercises. Then we tried to get her to do the dance moves from Beyonce's "put a ring on it" video but she declined.
The fact that Mum is being feisty is a sure sign that she is on the mend.
I'm not going to shlep my laptop to the hospital today. My shoulder is killing me. So I'll update you all tonight and let you know if she's home.
Now I have to go make sure TIVO recorded "24" for her Monday or she'll kill me.
Bye for now.

Message from Carol
Thank you family and friends for all the support you've given me. I'm over the operation and I feel okay. I should be back in the swing of things in 4-6 weeks. Love to you all. Carol
Stay tuned tomorrow when Carol writes her breast cancer haiku and limerick.
Caution: They may be rated-R for strong language.

Postop-Day 1 - continued
Tuesday 3:15pm.
Besides having a bad hair day she's feeling good.
She's a little shocked at how her scars look but relieved to have the tumor gone.
Me, Jean, Barbara, and Jean Frangos are here with her.
She took a walk around the nursing unit and did great.
She's got a cute private room with lots of natural light and every atBWH has been fabulous.

Still in Recovery
Jean and I were able to see Ma in recovery about an hour ago. We could only stay a couple minutes. She was pretty out of it but she knew we were there. She told us she was very sore and the nurse was keeping her comfortable.
She's going to be very upset about her hair because it looks terrible, but she'll get over it. :-)
Jean and I are drinking coffee and eating chocolate so we'll be buzzing around BWH for another few hours.

She's out of surgery :-)
We spoke with both surgeons and they are both pleased with how she did. The pathology results won't be back for a week or so but he was pleased with what he saw. We haven't seen her yet but will update everyone once she's out of recovery and in a room. Jenn & Jean xxoo
Day of Surgery
Hi All,
We arrived at BWH at 10am and walked around the gift shop for awhile since we were early. At 10:15 we went to admitting. WHile we were waiting a nice lady named Marty came with a gift for Ma. Marty was a 20 year breast cancer surviver. SHe gave Ma a nice gift bag of things she'll need post-surgery. It was very sweet and all of the loot was donated with funds raised from the various breast cancer walks. Jean and I went with her to the pre-op holding area. The nurses were very nice. Ma got nauseaous after the iv was put in. But after a cold facecloth, and lying flat she started to feel better. Her blood pressure dropped pretty quickly after the iv which I guess is a common occurance. We had a long talk with the Anesthesiaologist since the last surgery was traumatizing for Ma. Both surgeons came by and signed their name on the side they were working on. The nice anesthesia resident gave her some happy drugs and she was good to go. He was nice and kinda "surfer dude"-like. But we had "the chat" with him too about the anesthesia nightmare last time. We left her at 1pm. She's in great hands. We made sure both surgeons got a good night sleep, had no fights with their wife, and weren't hung over. Ma was still making jokes the whole time. ..Jenn and Jean
